Acquiring Access

The resources are provided by the Icelandic E-Research Infrastructure (IREI). Data Storage is available to Icelandic universities and governmental research institutes. Scientists in independent research institutes may also gain access, provided their research is funded by public grants.

The expert panel of the IREI considers applications for access, which is generally granted through two different means:

  1. By cooperation through the Infrastructure Fund (the Icelandic Centre for Research).
  2. By application. Formal applications can be either sent to "irei@hi.is" or submitted through our service portal here.

See more details here. A formal application should include a description of the project, the estimated time for completion, and the type of software and resources required to complete the project.

If you require more than 2TB of storage space, you need to justify and specify the requested size of the storage space.
